Slalom is all about technique and skill incorporating reaction time, rhythm, strength, coordination and balance.
The object for the skier is to pass through the slalom course while being pulled by the ski boat on an 18.25m rope. That sounds easy!
Well, the route of the course is to pass inside two entrance gates, ski around 6 buoys positioned three each side of the boat course and ski through two exit gates. The ongoing progression of slalom is to run the course at the start speed of 24mph and then the boat speed increases by 2mph after each completed pass until the speed reaches 36mph for men and 34mph veterans, juniors and women.
Once this has been achieved the pace changes and your skills and technique are really tested and slalom becomes even more challenging when the rope length shortens after each successful pass until the rope is 9.75m in length. The World slalom record is one buoy at 9.75m.
Our dedicated coaches are there to guide you to your slalom goals whether you are just looking to get through the half course, improving your position, changing edge or working on your 34mph at 12m.
